(I'm a NJ history writer.) That was a K4s steam locomotive, so I had to learn a bit about how they worked. That led me to a curiosity about modern locomotives. I'm not as hardcore about it as some, but I do enjoy casual railfanning with the NJ Transit, Norfolk Southern, and CSX trains we have around my area, including shooting some video.

But I have always been curious about what it's like inside those modern cabs - what the controls look like, how it all works, etc. This page has been drool-worthy for me! I've found videos and pictures, but never in this kind of detail. Many thanks for having posted this - it has been a fun education!Gordonhttp://www.gardenstatelegacy.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5041552085657689520.post-25764311807910588322013-04-12T16:19:36.742-07:002013-04-12T16:19:36.742-07:00MP190, thanks for the kind words, and I'm glad...MP190, thanks for the kind words, and I'm glad you enjoy the site.

I am still employed full time and write another blog; but when I retire I'll be devoting more time to this blog. (BTW - I do not use any of the social network sites, so I hope I did this right and you get this post...) I just found your site accidentally recently, but immediately found it interesting because of the similarities to my situation. Having grown up and worked in the bay area all my life and now living in the Sierra foothills, and also have a cabin in the mountains by the Railroad. (hence - mile post 190 handle)
I really enjoy all the train shots you have taken in and around Gold Run and Alta area. I have been watching/filming trains in that area for 40+ years - it is a great part of the world.
